Yes, Margaret, you are right and I still have a ration card signed by my mother. It was around 1960 when I asked for my bike.
Miserable father said that he didnīt want a child of his riding a bike on those busy roads. Until my brother asked for one that is! There was only one car in Holland Street then and that belonged to my Dad and Mr. Alderson down the road had a motorbike and sidecar. Three cars an hour along Blackburn Road.
I suppose itīs relative.
