The JRF have been compiling reports on poverty and income levels in the UK for decades. They've certainly been influential in government initiatives to tackle poverty, but recent governments would have been mental to mention tackling poverty in any manifesto (excluding New Labour's pledge to end child poverty). I mean, how do you even go about measuring poverty? It's a winless battle and politicians know that.
