Re: A Bank that doesnt accept Cash

TSB is a pain in the neck. When i was working i was paid into the bank every month which they quite happily took. When i finished and went onto benefits they were paid weekly at the post office. So i didnt use my bank account that much ... just if i needed to pay something by cheque which wasnt often but it was still there. I kept some money in it just to keep it open around £4. Then i passed my driving test and got a car. Next up i had a bang and we dealt with it ourselves instead of getting the insurance involved. I had to send them a cheque for £50... next up stuck the cheque in the post at the same time as getting my benefit and then went down accy to put it into my bank account. Goes into TSB and they said you dont have an account with us. Yes i do i have a speedbank card ... no you dont its been closed because i hadnt used it for a year!!! Why didnt you tell me that you had closed the account .. we didnt know if you had moved and so we didnt want to tell anyone you had an account with us. So you didnt tell me that you had closed that account and now when i want to use it you say i cant. Well i've just sent a cheque to be drawn on that account it has already gone in the post so i need to put that money into that account. You will have to try and get that cheque back because otherwise you can be charged with fraud. I said can it not be unfrozen and said no it cant be. Well can i open another account ... want proof of earnings well im on benefits sorry cant open another one then.

I trailed round accy trying to find another bank that would let me open an account with them. Finally found one. Got the cheque back - it was handy knowing someone worked at the post office ... and got someone else to write me a cheque on their account and i gave them the cash.

Now i wont have nothing to do with TSB.
