Hello everyone,

I'm a rather old newbie, but still active and full of life. Born in Accrinton in 1929, moved to Somerset in 1954, and have been here ever since. Visit the old town occasionally, and find it more and more difficult to recognise large parts of it.

But still have very fond memories of meeting girls at Oak Hill Park, the back row at the Odeon cinema, Eddie McGarry's band at the Conservative Club, Sid Ashmead's band at the Ritz ballroom, drinks in the local pubs, and the wonderful concerts by the Halle and the Liverpool Philhamonic orchestras at King George's Hall in Blackburn. Happy days!

I am heavily into family history research these days and hope to exchange information with others on the Accrington Web.
