How right you are Willow...I used to sell belts of different qualities and it depends where the leather is cut from in the hide..The only leather for belts comes from the hides of cattle, unless the customer stipulates snakeskin or the like. Most belts and leather saddles are made from cattle hides...there is no difference apart from customer preference if the product is made from the hide of a cow or a bull.
