I like goats as a species. When we thought we were going to buy a cottage with a tiny field attached (until we got gazumped) I was going to keep a couple of nanny goats and some hens. Like my dad before me I'm a bit of a frustrated farmer and, unlike him, I didn't fancy keeping pigs, much as I like them (they love having their backs scratched, you know), but raising goats was a viable proposition and they wouldn't have to be reared solely for the abbatoir. They say you can soon become accustomed to goat's milk and I was ready to try. Heidi, eat you heart out.
Anyway, for what it's worth, I will lend my support to any scheme to keep this chap in situ. If it's needed I will even write to the Accrington Observer with an exile's view of the need for a caprine presence in the park.
Incidentally, does this chap have a name? Please don't tell me it's Billy.
