Melia as a street name is popular here in the north. This guy could possibly have not even lived there and was unsure of the spelling.
Sometimes the wives of soldiers, sailors and air force guys would move to different houses after their marriage, or after having a child and then inform their husbands of the move. The women had to do it alone because a lot of the time their partners were only home long enough for the wedding day or had a weeks leave and spent most of that time getting back just to spend a day with their family.
So I think its probably Melia Street.
