Like was mentioned earlier in the thread, the general rule is that if your house has more bedrooms than occupants a water meter will work out cheaper for you.
My house was built in 2000 so we are on a water meter. Ours is a 3 bedroomed house and there are 4 of us. I think it's expensive at £30 a month for water.
My uncle lived alone in a 4 bedroomed house after his divorce. He requested a meter to be fitted and said it was much cheaper for him.
