Re: C.p.u

Hi Ian.
The files are jpeg, I just did one to see what happens, this was a 393 kb attestation paper, for Harry Bibby, when I'd cleaned it up, resized, enhanced and saved it was 735 kb. The biggest one I did finished up at 912 kb.

This program I use is the best one I've ever found, it will do some things even better than one of the programs used by a local professional photographer.

Some of the old WWI group photographs I've revived, run to about 2.5 mb
I only work on flies in jpeg, I've tried other formats including raw, but don't like them and raw make even bigger file sizes.

try "the Gimp", its freeware and simply superb and open source(free!)

CPU is fast enough to not show a slow down unless you are doing something really silly in the sharpening department.(usually a 10Megapixel image off my DSLR atkes ~ 4-5 seconds to run through an unsharp mask at default settings, I once set them a bit silly just to see and it took it 5 minutes! this is on a 3 gig dual core machine with 2 gig RAM btw)

slow saving suggests a huge file.
