They used to be on a pull cord system but now they are on a defused button system, and runs through the phone line, I have an emergency call button which I have round my neck all day and next to me on the bed at night. I had cause to use it in July when I was taken into hospital, it is a must, especially for people with poor health and I think the elderly too who live on their own. Oh yes after talking about forgetting to lock the door at night, guess which dim wit forgot to lock his door last night
