I'm sure there was a similar conversation with somebody a few months ago and I stand to be corrected, but students come under the same rules for tax as anybody else. The reason they rarely pay any is because they don't work long enough in a year to get past the threshold figure. If you are earning more than £6,035 a year then you pay tax.
