You are right MEP, Jock definitely did teach maths but he also was heavily into PE. I remember he always seemed to wear a blazer with an amateur athletics association badge on it.
He was very different from "JAB" Bentley who taught english and bought some god-forsaken scottish island to live on or something after giving up teaching
