I take your point. A harmless bit of fun, especially if you know the children, and you have sweets to give in return for not having your windows pelted with eggs.
Though what amazes me are the parents who spend the rest of the year frightened about the perceived threat of those who might abuse their children, yet come Halloween are happy for them to go out in the dark, knocking on the doors of strangers.
