You need to dry it for a lot longer than 1 night before powering it up, unfortunately you may have now damaged it beyond repair as water and tiny electronics don't mix very well.

You can check if your house insurance covers it ( it covers tvs' radios etc so why not a mobile). My Bank account actually gives us mobile phone insurance amongst other things ( car breakdown, will writing, emergency assistance, travel insurance + more) for a few quid a month. it works out a lot cheaper than doing all these things seperately.

all you can really do is find an old mobile to see you on whilst you get to the end of this contract or save up and buy something decent s/h.
