I worked at Martholme Grange in the 70s and plastic glasses were only used on Thursday's Disco Night, the other nights ordinary glasses were in use. We changed to plastics for this night not so much because people were using them as weapons(we had very very few incidents) but more to cut down breakages, we used to loose around 40 to 50 glasses a night in breakages and theft
