Understand what you are saying Tealeaf in your straightforward way, however, these actors and celebs are brought into your living room on a daily basis and do have an effect of being part of the family. We do feel sad, therefore, when they are no longer around.
I didn't particularly care for 'On the Buses', but wish him a safe journey now to wherever he is going.
