I was never made aware of where my teachers lived when I was at school so can't comment on that one.
Years ago not all teachers would have had a car so would have had to work locally.
Not so these days, they have the choice of working locally or if they get a job at a particular school in another town they could take that.
Both have their plusses and minuses I would think.
If a teacher works in their home town......well, they have no problem getting to work in the snow.
If they work away from their home town they get a bit of respite from seeing the kids at evenings/weekends.
