Did you try and start it with the head lights on though to see if they dimmed?
The starter motor draws about 80 amps so you should see the head lights dip if it is jammed. On some cars they have a fuse for the ignition system which can include the starter solenoid. It is worth checking all the fuses. Depending on the car they sometimes like to hide them though.
