They were doing this at Asda on Thursday Neill, although some prices had a 'D' after it ... which possibly meant 'discounted' ? The others had a 'V' against it which had the VAT corrected at the till.
Problem with Archivek's calculation is that he has not explained how to get to the gross price initially, try this :-
£11.75 divided by 1.175 = £10
£10 times 1.15 = £ 11.50
Saving of .25p.
