Re: lost cat
There are practices which ensure that keeping a cat in your home does not compromise hygiene.
A lidded cat litter situated next to the toilet on a hard floor.
My cat has a special call to tell me when he has soiled, and I use a scoop to remove the soil out of the litter tray into the toilet.
The scoop is stored in a sterilising solution.(denture cleaning tablets have many uses)
The urine is absorbed into quality cat litter and changed weekly. Urine does not emit smells if you use quality litter.
Urine is less of a home health hazard than two days worth of food scraps rotting in a kitchen bin.
Unlike dogs, cats lick their bodies clean daily.
There is some hazard from hair shedding which regular use of a vaccuum cleaner solves.
These hygiene measures use time effort and expense, but are regarded as a small price to pay in return for the companionship and affection a cat provides.
There is the added bonus that your home will never be invaded by rodent vermin.
