I've been on Amlodipine and Ramipril for over 15 years with no side effects and very stable, low blood pressure. I take furosemide for another medical problem and, I'm with Retlaw here, only take them when I'm staying home.
I don't know of any herbal remedies for hypertension but anything's worth a try if the chemicals are a problem.
