The distance from the exchange also has something to do with it. At least that’s what BT say. Mind you they used to say that broadband was not possible because the overhead wires would need changing (at your expense of course) plus the cable leading to your house.

By the way I don’t have one of those new fangled hub things. Just the BT Voyager 205 ADSL Router connected to my computer via a USB port.
