Nik and I drove past Warrington Bank Quay station this morning and we noticed the sign that said "Kissing Zone". I had heard about it but hadn't seen it. It's right outside on the forecourt and if you've come from, say, London you'll have walked about 1/4 mile before you get there.
We wonder what will happen if you kiss on the platform; an on-the-spot fine perhaps?
How very different from Brief Encounter. How could Celia and Trevor have conducted a romance standing beside the taxi rank, opposite the sandwich shop, with Lever Bros. soap factory as a backdrop (ah, the aroma of Persil wafting on the evening air)?
There are 2 stations in Warrington. The other one, Central, is mainly for the Manchester-Liverpool line. I don't know if that has a kissing zone but, somehow, I don't think it will need one.
