Music Hall Tavern, Blackpool

It was sad to see the pictures of the fire in Blackpool last week. It brought back to me memories of drives over there in the 1990s to Sunday afternoons at the Music Hall Tavern above Yates´s in Talbot Square. Some of the best ex professional singers used to perform there (including Maureen Nolan, the mother of the Nolan Sistes), and the standard of singing was exceptional. The compere was Miss Patricia, who did a mean rendition of Burlington Bertie.

All very camp, but happy days. Sad to see the old place go up in smoke.
