As per Garinda's comment on people's right 'not' to claim them, I disagree. Employees in the past have fought for these, and should be used by everyone .. think any Employer would consider you stupid if you didn't anyway. I know if I had had a colleague who did not claim for mileage allowance when using their car on company business, would have been considered as some sort of toadying git (language moderated here
), in a councillors case maybe extra votes.
