Re: film choice
A good thread Hanchorman. Let's bring it back to life and see what the choices of some of our newer members would be.
My choices are:
1. Mississipi Burning.
A five star classic. A very powerful and intense film, with some superb acting; noteably by Gene Hackman, who was Oscar nominated, and Willem Defoe, as his young FBI sidekick. The type of film to make you sit through the rolling credits to learn every little detail of the making of it.
2. The Shawshank Redemption. Did you see the twist at the end coming? I certainly didn't.
A film that shows that it is possible to change peoples lives for the better, given the chance, even in the most retrictive of circumstances. I particularly liked the ending; redemption via revenge.
3. The Thing. A masterpiece of direction and special effects from John Carpenter.
If I could've had a fourth choice, it would be Alien. I watched this when I was a spotty little herbert, a long time ago, and bricked it all the way through, from the moment John Hurt's character, Kane, 'gave birth'!
Reading through other folks choices, Green Mile looks to be well worth watching.
