U havin' a larf???? The Council will have to come up with a decent receptacle to contain food waste. It would have to prevent smells and be easy to clean, with a decent fitting lid that animals can't dislodge.

I'm deadly serious, as always.
A number of councils now recycles anything biodegradable (mainly food) for compost. I think Preston now has recycling; I know here in Tower Hamlets we've had it for a year or so. Each residence gets a little container (like an ice box) which you line with a biodegrad. bag; you stick your food waste in this and when full, take it outside and empty it in one of the food wheelie bins. These are emptied once a week, but not before the local yobs have knocked 'em over.
The funny thing is, all the other recyclable stuff - cardboard, metal, glass, paper, plastic - all goes togeather into one other bin.
