You need to set your video card to a suitable resolution that matches your display.

1024 by 768 is a 4 by 3 aspect ratio. 1024 / 4 * 3 = 768

1600 by 900 is a 16 by 9 aspect ratio 1600 / 16 * 9 = 900

Be careful though some PC monitors are 16 by 10 so 1440 by 900 is a 16 by 10 resolution as in 1440 / 16 *10 = 900.
