I'm going to in no way defend the Conservatives that have abused the system, whether they were in the rules or not. What you say though is not strictly true. UKIP investigated and did not kick the member out despite him embezzling thousands of pounds. He wasn't expelled from UKIP until it broke publicly and he was charged for his crimes. There is of course more but that isn't the point.

I would hope that MP's will follow suit in due course if they're guilty of fraud, which it seems clear some are! The political parties should have nothing to do with them. It would be wrong to try and suggest a particular party is behind it, it's the individual MP's themselves that have been milking the system, and will I hope be dealt with in the same way UKIP eventually dealt with their members.
