Re: Junk TV affecting our children
My children are stil quite young, 8 and 5, so I monitor their viewing very closely.
I won't allow them to watch tv for long periods, no having the tv blaring out when no-one is watching and neither child has a tv in their bedroom.
I encourage other activities before tv....hobbies, playing out, playing made up games or board games.
My 8 yr old likes to play on the x box but, again, I don't allow him on for long periods, nor is he allowed to play 18 rated games.
I probably come accross as very strict when you read this but I think if you set the scene when they're young then they'll be less likely to lump about in front of the tv/xbox for long periods when they're older. They will be used to enjoying other things.
