You can't really get that message across very well unless there are more than the three parties to vote for.......we had just a conservative and a labour candidate to vote for....... a vote for either of those doesn't really register as a protest........if there had been an independent candidate or perhaps a green party candidate then there may have been a bigger turnout and folk may have cast their vote for someone other than labour, conservative or lib dems........so this being the case, many people have stayed away and not voted for anyone.
