My husband died from meningococcal septicaemia, a form of meningitis. He was ill for only 48 hours but they told me the incubation period was 2 to 10 days. His first symptoms were similar to gastric flu but he developed the dark rash a few hours before he died.

I sincerely hope your brother in law gets well and has no after-effects. It's a horrible disease.
