"Q: What were your thoughts on the midweek victory over Accrington Stanley?

A: They out-played us totally in the first half, we picked up second half, we had to because we could not have been much worse.

I will stand and defend my players without a shadow of a doubt but that first half you just cannot defend, you simply cannot defend it. It was not good enough.

It was not good enough for us, the standards we set, and especially the standards the players set. I will defend them when it is right to defend them but you cannot defend that."
