Watchdog - what a mess
It is quite a while since I watched this programme and am digusted at how it has deteriorated.
It originally had the purpose of investigating malpractices, and shamed rouges into righting their wrongs.
It once actually helped me. That was in the days when Glynn Worsnip was a presenter (1979). He sat at a desk and presented facts.
He helped me have a holiday as it was originally booked, and not with the altered itinerary that the holiday company were trying to impose.
Watching it now is like watching burlesque - gaudy sets, hand held cameras, noisy 'shouting' presenters - does it really need to be so gaudy to attract an audience?
If viewers need gaudy oversensationalism to stay looking, it is a sad reflection on the viewers of today.
The original programme had respect of viewers and was feared by rouge traders.
The current format is just an overblown, over orchestrated mess.
