Johnny that day had been watching Church, I think playing Haslingden. It was early on in the season, and the Church professional that season was an Australian fast bowler. I cant remember he's name, but he bowled Haslingden out that day for 24.
The game at Haslingden was over early, so Walker and few Church fans came up too our game.
The story goes, and allegedly Walker had a pint for every run that Haslingden scored. And he would insist on on trying to walk around the ground. And he was doing alright until he came to that hill.
When they talk about Accrington characters Johnny Walker, was up there amongst the best of them.
