Hi Bagpuss, yes indeed, Broad Oak House it was. That must have meant the horse and carriages from times past could have been calling at either Bank House or if it continued up the track, would reach Broad Oak House - The original house was built in 1834 by John Hargreaves but was replaced in 1899 for Sir George Macalpine (this is now Heathlands). He was a Scottish engineer who became head of Altham Collieries and Accrington Brick & Tile Co.
