I would have thought, Dave, that there would come a point where you would say to your Chairman, "No, I'm not going to say that because I believe it is not in the best interest of the club". Arguably he reached that point when he empathised (his word) with Peter Marsden.

Eloquence?? : Apart from that dubious last statement, I don't think what you say is quite true. As Chief Executive, he should have been a driving force behind the SOS Appeal, especially in the absence of the female co-chairperson. At a very basic level, he should have ensured that the fundometer was kept up-to-date. He should have communicated with individuals who made offers of help and who were seemingly ignored. He should not have made banal statements about "the next 48 hours" etc.
