Both Messrs. Britcliffe and Jones may serve their wards well, and admittedly the former has been a councillor for much longer. I myself have praised Peter Britcliffe's work as a ward councillor, but the main difference is Cllr. Britcliffe is the leader of H.B.C., voted into that position by the majority ruling group, the Conservatives, and not by the people of the borough as a whole.

Since moving back to the area, I've been shocked and dismayed at some of the ludicrous actions, ideas, and policy decisions of H.B.C. under Cllr. Britcliffe's control.

Much as it might pain you, my criticisms aren't politically motivated.

I lived in Tory run London borough of Wandsworth for eleven years, and there was never a peep of protest from myself. Mainly because it was a great place to live, with excellent services, and that was all down to fantastic leadership. Something that I don't think we have here in Hyndburn.

As for Cllr. Jones, unlike Peter Britcliffe, he isn't my ward councillor, nor is he leader of the council. So in reality he presently has little impact on my life.

Though isn't this a thread about who reads Telegraph?

To get back on track, and in the interest of fairness, here's a quoted comment from the story regarding Graham Jones.

Wikidi, Accrington says...

Oswaldtwiste has better roads and landscaping compared to Accrington because the council leader himself is a resident from there.
