I was married at Hippings methodist chapel next to that school.

I lived in the vicinity for the first 18 years of my life -
and I have no recollection of a mill close by the school and chapel, other than the one with the deteriorating chimney on Rhyddings st which has been discussed recently
I think Gayle means the community centre on Harvey Street.

It was Hippings Mill, which might have been a paper mill, rather than textiles, according to my mum's distant memories.

I remember the gate posts, some of the walls, and floors, still being there in the late sixties. The gypsies moved on, and used the hard standing for their caravans in the early seventies.
