I think Gayle means the community centre on Harvey Street.
It was Hippings Mill, which might have been a paper mill, rather than textiles, according to my mum's distant memories.
I remember the gate posts, some of the walls, and floors, still being there in the late sixties. The gypsies moved on, and used the hard standing for their caravans in the early seventies.
