it's not just buildings....
No indeed, not only are we loosing our built heritage, which is bad enough, but changes in farming practices over the last forty years are begining to spell the end for species of wild flowers too. Here are two, classed as 'Arable Weeds', that are in such a state of decline that they are described as 'Scarce'. West Lancashire appears to be something of a final stronghold.
The first is the splendidly named Purple Ramping-fumitory (fumaria purpurea) and the second is the Corn Marigold (chrysanthemum segetum).
