I was talking with my daughter, and we were discussing the pathetic attempts at getting the economy on the move......reducing VAT by 2.5% was laughable......it wasn't going to help anything.
It would have been far better to give every tax payer a windfall of say £2000......many people would have spent this.....perhaps doing home renovations,(employing local tradesmen...even DIY would have been better than nothing) buying new appliances. It would have stimulated the economy by moving the money around.

Yes, it would have cost much less than handing the money to the bankers(did I mean that or something else similar - you'll have to guess at that one )
