Boozing is in our DNA. Read your Tacitus (with reference to Caesar). It's simply a question of control. Sometimes we do it - sometimes not. It tends to run in cycles. In a few years time, the social landscape will probably involve minimum pricing on alcohol sales, no town centre 18 hour pubs, breath tests on suspected drunks and compulsory tea dances for the under 25 unemployables.
