A life-sized bronze statue of Billy Fury is unveiled at the Museum of Liverpool Life
A life-sized bronze statue of rock legend Billy Fury will be the latest attraction at the museum from Easter Sunday 20 April 2003. Donated by The Sound of Fury – The Official Billy Fury Fan Club, the statue by Tom Murphy shows the Liverpool-born singer at the height of his fame in the 1960s.
Billy’s mother Jean Wycherley and brother Albie will be among those attending The Sound of Fury unveiling of the statue at an invitation-only event. Jean says:
“This magnificent statue is a great tribute to Billy and we are thrilled that it will be a permanent attraction for people to see.”
Fan Club members from all over the world contributed to the £50,000 statue showing Billy performing his stage act.
