Oh absolutely, Bernard. The novelty of a coalition government will probably have worn off by the next round of local elections and despite the majorities that David Cameron and Peter Britcliffe would like us to think they have, they're hardly running away with it as it stands.
Still, there's a good old fashioned get out clause for all situations should things get desperate:
"It was the previous administration's fault, don't blame us."
Peter Britcliffe used it yesterday to justify the thin year we're about to have, despite the fact that his party are now in control both here and in Westminster and a new age of prosperity looms before us. There'll probably be enough in the pot for some nice new projects in Oswaldtwistle though, so we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
It's lazy politics for anyone with half an eye on the ball.
