The method of using comfrey that you describe is not to do with homeopathic remedies, but more to do with Herbal Medicine....and yes it does work.
You can also pick the plant after it has flowered, allow it to dry out to concentrate its healing properties and then make a hot poultice out of it......apply to sore joints and they get better.
