Is the "Sally Ann" still open on London road Colmeister? I stayed there a few times in the early 70's when we oiled up the far East boats in GK5 dock.
The place was a scream, I even saw one bloke slagging off an empty chair because it had made him forget his carrier bag.
That was in the days when 10PM was closing time.
One pub near The Cross rang a fire bell at 9.55 and that cleared the place because it was inside near the bar and very noisy. At 10PM the shutters were up over the windows and all the alkies were laid in the gutter.
