It's not just Morecambe.
I used to work in a well known bookshop on Charing Cross Road in London and one day an elderly American tourist came into the shop and asked me "Do you sell books?". I replied that we did and indicated with a sweep of my hand the shop filled with books stacked to the ceiling. "No" she said, "I mean REAL books" - ?????????
