That's because it's been shot by poachers,(you've been getting dodgy Haggis mate, probably undersized too
) proper registered catchers/hunters wouldn't dream of using a shotgun or any sort of fire arm, no damages the meat does that & it ruins the pelt ! How can you make a sporran out of a holey fur ? All the Jockeens money would be falling out ! (Don't reckon it'd hit the floor though !!
