In that case, working on the information you have given me, I would say your piece of string is dry, you have two alternatives:-
1/ take the string with you next time you go the toilet and wet it.
B) give us some sort of clue.
OR
I'd forgotten there is an or, unplug your computer, put it in the box it came in, send it back to the manufacturer and in future write to people if you must make contact.
