Agree with the adequate sentence thing ... I like the idea of a judge being able to declare someone a "dangerous offender" and face real life ... no chance of parole, subject of course to appeal. And I really agree that a lot of thought has to be given to young offenders; it's a big issue over here too. Am I to understand that inmates in UK gaols have access to the internet


The other stuff: well, I know that it doesn't work, or, more precisely, it hasn't worked up till now and I suspect it never will. But if it makes folks feel better, and deflects their attention from the fact that the economy is going down the tubes, go for it.
